Do tire chains have to be exact size?
Since tire chains are designed to fit specific tire sizes and those tires have specific load ratings you should have no issues as long as you are within your load weight rating and you are driving the recommended speed by law with tire chains on (or no more than 30 mph with these tire chains).
How do I know what size tire chains I need?
The first number indicates tire width, the second gives you the tire height ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width) and the third denotes the diameter of the wheel expressed in inches. This information is critical in determining which snow chain size will fit your tire.
Do chains ruin your tires?

Yes, you could leave the chains on but they could be taken off of the vehicle by a thief if they are willing to do enough work. Basically the car tires are going to be sitting on the chains so a thief could not just pull them off.
Do tire chains work on black ice?
Black ice is just regular ice, with this exception. The first thing to understand is that driving on black ice is not akin to driving on snowy roads. Helpful tools like snow chains and studded tires grip into snow-laden roads to create traction. Even with these tools, tires don’t have traction on black ice.
Are tire cables as good as chains?
Snow chains are heavier and can be trickier to install. Their main advantage is their durability, so they’re a better choice if you drive where snow chains are frequently needed. Snow cables are lighter weight and easier to install. They’re also less likely to damage your vehicle if one of the cables breaks.
Where do chains go on 4×4 truck?
