The crossbar spread often referred to with roof boxes like # TH6359B or other accessories is measured from center to center. By measuring from the center of the bar to the center of the bar you will get the crossbar spread required for a roof box.

As long as the crossbars you use aren’t wider than the widest part of the vehicle (usually the mirrors), which could be a safety problem or even illegal in some areas, you could certainly use longer crossbars than the 58 inch crossbars.

Are Yakima round bars loud?
The bars are pretty quiet. BUT, NOT ANY MORE QUIET THAN THE ROUND BARS WTH A WIND FAIRING INSTALLED. For a set of round bars and wind fairing, you are still about $20 less than the Jetstream bars alone.

Thanks. Expert Reply: The Yakima SkyBox Lo Rooftop Cargo Box # Y07338 can fit crossbar spread widths between 24 and 42 inches. That means that from center to center the clamps of the box are spaced 42 inches apart at the max setting and also the distance from left to right of the clamps is 21 inches.
Can Yakima JetStream bars be cut down?
We do not recommend cutting down the Core or JetStream bars because of the way the material is formed it is very difficult to get a clean cut and reinstall the end cap. Note that the section of bar that extends past a tower can be used to support loads or attach accessories.
Can I use a longer Thule WingBar?
Thule WingBar Evo and SquareBar Evo crossbars have a channel cut into the underside of the crossbar where the foot pack attaches. Any length ProBar or older model SquareBar can be mounted to a vehicle as long as the ends of the bar do not extend past the side view mirrors.
