Social Skills Rating System (SSRS) The SSRS (Gresham & Elliott, 1990) is a broad, multirater assessment of students’ social behaviors that can affect teacher-student relations, peer acceptance, and academic performance.
The SSiS (Social Skills Improvement System) Rating Scales enables targeted assessment of individuals and small groups to help evaluate social skills, problem behaviours and academic competence. Teacher, parent and student forms help provide a comprehensive picture across school, home and community settings.

The Social Responsiveness Scale, Second Edition (SRS-2) measures social ability of children from 2 years, 5 months to 18 years old. It is used primarily with individuals on the autism spectrum, family members of individuals on the autism spectrum, and others who have social impairments.

How are social skills rated on the SSRs?
Each item on the SSRS is rated on a 3-point scale (“0—Never,” “1—Sometimes,” “2—Very Often”) based on the rater’s perceived frequency of a certain behavior. In addition, all SSRS forms (except the Student Elementary form) employ a 3-point Importance rating scale for the Social Skills Scale.
Social skill subscale stability estimates range from .52 to .88 (M dn = .70). Stability estimates for the Total Problem Behavior Scale range from .65 (Parent Form) to .84 (Teacher Form), with subscale stability estimates ranging from .48 to .84 (M dn = .66).
Narrow band measures include the 55-item Social Skills Rating System, which divides item content into three narrow domains: problem behaviors, social skills, and academic competence. Another narrow band instrument is the Disruptive Behavior Rating Scale (DRS).
