They are both set on a game-wide level for every world you are playing. The EA default Story Progression is rather random and unsatisfactory.

The Sims currently have too high autonomy. They will try to sit in every chair possible, play on every computer on the lot, talk to every Sim at once, and of course a really annoying one for people who don’t like wasting money; eating the most expensive thing out of the fridge when their hunger barely drops from full-from full! -_-

Autonomy On. I’ve played both ways, but I’ve found I prefer leaving autonomy on. For starters, with autonomy on sims will take care of their basic needs on their own (for the most part). This is useful when you get caught up in what one sim is doing and forget to check in with the others.
Can you control more than one SIM on the Sims?
Autonomy On. @Babykittyjade You can control one Sim in a household and then have all the rest have autonomy. It would be cool to have up to three though for sure. You would have to choose the box and check where it says disable autonomy for selected Sim.
